Animal Rescue of Stokes County began over five years ago as a collaborative effort between two local citizens concerned about the homeless animals in Stokes County.  Ran by volunteers from all walks of life, we are a 501(C)(3)  non-profit organization.  We rely on the generosity of our community members by supporting our fundraising efforts, donating money and supplies to help take care of the animals in our charge.  We are not located at a specific location, we utilize a foster program which we feel is better for the animals in our care.  Our common goal is to reduce the number of homeless pets in our county through education and services to aid those in need.

"The Animals' Savior"
Copyright Jim Willis 1999

I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human society.
I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal.
And I was angry.
"God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?"
God was silent for a moment and then He spoke softly.
"I have done something," He replied.
"I created You."

Here is what you get when you adopt from Animal Rescue of Stokes County.  Remember, if for whatever reason your relationship with the pet is not working, we take it back!  In keeping with our goal of lowering the number of homeless pets, we work hard to make sure it's a match from the very beginning.  Our counselors will work with you to ensure that the pet you pick is the right pet for your family.  Our animals are healthy, spayed or neutered, up to date on all shots it is required to have depending on it's age, on heart worm prevention as well as flea and tick prevention, cats are negative for feline Leukemia and immunized, and for the most part mind their manners.  Our animal are also microchipped for added protection in case they are lost.  You also get access to a host of resources and experience as we work to ensure the adoption is enjoyable as well as successful. Take a look at our adoptable pets and take the first step in changing the life of a wonderful companion animal.
